SQLBolt query check and help
- You write each query in the browser, and you get a check mark on each task when your result is correct. Checked October 12, 2026 (source)
- In each lesson with tasks, SQLBolt shows the line "Stuck? Read this task's Solution." When you click "Solution", SQLBolt puts the solution query of the task in the editor. You need no account. In the 18 lessons with tasks, SQLBolt has a solution for all 53 tasks. Checked October 22, 2026 (source)
- In its 18 lessons, SQLBolt gives each task a type of check. On 37 of its 41 SELECT tasks, SQLBolt compares your rows with the rows of its solution query. On 9 of these 37 tasks, SQLBolt also compares the order of the rows. On the other 4 SELECT tasks, SQLBolt checks only the column names. On the 12 tasks in which you change rows or tables, SQLBolt counts rows or checks that a statement runs or fails. Checked October 24, 2026 (source)
- We ran a two-query test with no account on lesson 10, task 2, in which you need no order. For a rewrite with the same rows in a different order, SQLBolt gave the check mark. For a result one row short, SQLBolt gave no check mark. Checked October 23, 2026 (source)
SQLBolt SQL topics
- SQLBolt has exercises on joins, outer joins and GROUP BY. For subqueries, it has a text page with no exercise. It has no lesson on window functions. Checked October 12, 2026 (source)
SQLBolt SQL engines
- SQLBolt says that it teaches the common SQL standard. SQLBolt does not name its engine. Checked October 12, 2026 (source)
- You cannot practice window functions on SQLBolt. When we ran a query with ROW_NUMBER() OVER in the lesson editor, SQLBolt showed "Incomplete SQL query", because its version of SQLite (3.8.7.2) has no window functions. Checked October 24, 2026 (source)
